Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make an appointment? Can I see you in-person?

Please simply fill out the introductory form to schedule an appointment. I am not currently accepting in-person patients. I provide teletherapy to residents in 35 US states and those living internationally. Please click here to see if I am licensed to practice in your state. Please note I am also licensed in California in addition to the 35 states listed here.

What issues and conditions do you work with?

Women’s and men’s mental health and sexuality, obsessional disorders and anxiety, issues unique to gifted individuals, codependency, trauma, depression, domestic abuse, anxiety, relationship difficulties, family issues, sexuality, body dysmorphia, identity struggles, women’s professional and leadership struggles in the workplace, OCD, sexual assault and trauma, psychosis, panic attacks, social anxiety, stress, adjustment difficulties, life transitions, somatic issues, and eating disorders, to name a few.

*Most issues are not discrete and tend to tie into one another. I have expertise in multiple areas. I work holistically by focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. If you would like to ask me if I work with what you are struggling with, please reach out.

Do you take my health insurance?

I do not take health insurance, and I do not work with insurance companies. I accept private pay only.

Do you prescribe medications?

I do not. I am a psychotherapist. If you are looking for medication management, a psychiatrist can be of help to you.

I don’t really have a specific problem I need to work on, but I’d like to undergo psychotherapy for personal self-exploration. Can I do that with you?

Yes. Absolutely, yes. Psychotherapy is a wonderful way to deepen your life’s journey. It offers a space for you to really explore your values, choices, beliefs, relationships, and so many other parts of life. The therapeutic space is unbiased, so this journey can occur with someone (me) reflecting back to you things you may be unaware of that spur you to even greater growth. I love being part of these personal explorations with my patients.

Does talk therapy really work via video?

It really does for many people. There are, of course, some people for whom teletherapy is not appropriate, and I am happy to discuss whether you would be a good fit or not. Covid-19 forced us into utilizing teletherapy, and to many patients’ amazement, they have been able to continue without interruption. Many of my patients now report they would rather continue teletherapy as it works better with their schedule.

What is your cancellation policy?

To the best of your ability, I encourage you to make your weekly sessions, even if you would prefer to skip that week. Oftentimes, we most want to miss sessions when something we do not quite want to face is beginning to arise. This is when session is particularly needed. That being said, life also happens and requires flexibility. If you need to reschedule your session, I require at least 24 hours cancellation notice; otherwise, you will be charged the full cost for your session

What do I do in an emergency?

If you are in crisis, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, a free, 24-hour hotline at 1.800.273.8255. If your issue is an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

Can I verify your license? How do I file a complaint?

You may easily verify my license or file a complaint online. If you are upset with me or my services for any reason, I hope you will share them with me first so that I have the opportunity to address your concerns. If we are not able to address your concerns adequately, all patients have the right to file a complaint. Here is the information for each state where I am licensed:
